In the month of August, the EIA reported an injection of 18 Bcf into underground storage in the week ending August 18th. This brings storage levels to 3,083 bcf which is 20% above last year’s storage levels. As hurricane Idalia hits the state of Florida demand for power/natural gas in the southeast is expected to level off slightly. On the contrary, in the northeastern region with last week’s spike in temperature set a new peak demand of 28,735 MW, however, experts are not expecting demand to go any higher as the next few months become a transitional period from summer to fall. In the mid-Atlantic region natural gas prices remained unchanged for the most part of last week moving up and down in a tight range.
